The Art of Asking: Frame Questions for Better Divination Results
In Chinese divination, the question is as important as the answer. A well-crafted question opens the door to precise insight.
The Four Rules of Inquiry
1. Be Specific, Not Vague
Weak: "What does my future hold?"
Strong: "What career direction should I pursue over the next year?"
2. Ask About Process, Not Outcome
Weak: "Will I become wealthy?"
Strong: "What patterns in my relationship with money should I understand?"
3. Focus on Yourself, Not Others
Weak: "Does my partner truly love me?"
Strong: "What can I learn about myself through this relationship?"
4. Seek Guidance, Not Certainty
The oracle is a council of elders, not a commanding general. It offers wisdom; you retain agency.
Different Systems, Different Questions

- Bazi: Timing — when to launch, which years favor which endeavors.
- Qimen Dunjia: Strategy — which direction, when to act, how to position.
- Zhou Yi (I Ching): Philosophy — understanding deeper meaning, alignment with the Dao.
- Zhou Gong Dreams: Inner world — what your subconscious is telling you.
