Your Lucky Element (Yong Shen) is the element that brings your Bazi chart into balance. It's the key that unlocks your chart's potential.
Think of your Bazi chart as a chemical equation. Some elements are too strong, others too weak. The Lucky Element is the "catalyst" that restores equilibrium. When you surround yourself with this element — in colors, directions, career choices, and timing — your natural luck improves.
There are actually three tiers of favorable elements:
- Yong Shen (用神): The primary Lucky Element — the most important one
- Xi Shen (喜神): The "Happy Element" — secondary; supports the Yong Shen

- Your chart has many of the same element or the element that produces yours
- You have strong Earthly Branches in your element's "prosperous" phase
Your Day Master is WEAK if:
- Born in a season that controls or drains your element
